One days work

Hi, i got offered one days work as an extra on a film at the end of May.
I will notify the social welfare office prior to the work (i'm signing on a few days before i start the work) but just wondering what (if any) information and documents i might need to show to them.

The pay is quite high for just one day, will i need to declare the specifications of my pay and support it with documents?
I'll probably have to claim a lot of the pay back anyways so hoping this doesn't turn into me getting left without dole due to income tax etc.

Never been in this situation so any expertise or advice on this would be hugely appreciated, thanks.

On JSB all you need do is inform the dept (local office) that you got a days work, this is usually done after the work and before the next payment day if possible.

Thats great thanks for the response. I just checked my docket when i got home to make sure and im actually on JSA. Would that make a big difference to showing them how much and supporting it with documents?

On JSA contact your local office before you do any work, there will be forms to fill in for your employer and possibly a means test.

It could work out at taking 20 euro from your wages, then the remaining pay take 60% of that and thats what social welfare will deduct from you, at least that's how it was for me and wasn't worth while doing the work!

Okay thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.

I'll be signing on before i start the work so will see what they say at the hatch. Bit worried about the means testing of my pay as its a substantial one off payment (for just 2 days work on seperate weeks), but i've been told i will be taxed the majority due to the film not sending invoices out, so i could be stuck with a very small percentage to live on for a while. Hopefully not! :(

Feels like getting any temp work on JSA is a headache and I'd be better off just picking up my dole every week and ignoring any possible work that conflicts.
But i'm trying to be positive and get off the register for my own motivations and sanity!

Again thank you for the replies.
