marble fireplace

    anybody ever take down a marble fireplace before.im trying to save this fireplace rather than just hack it to bits.iv taken down 3 wooden fireplaces before.they where basically just screwed to the wall.i never removed a marble 1.its a big heavy piece and i cant see any screws.any suggestions?

    It will all depend on what bonding was used on the marble when it was being assembled. If stone glue was used then you won't really get it down without damaging.

    If a silicon based adhesive was used it might come apart with some gentle persuasion but be very careful.

    The only way to know is to try it.
