Just wondering how long it takes to hear back once you have handed in the relevant documents? Gave my p45 in today and yer man just said im finished with him and id be written too but didn't say how long it would take, hope im not left weeks without money

it does take weeks. mine took around 5 weeks if i remember correctly. they back pay you then to the date when you applied.
I would try your hardest to get of it though. I have had a fair amount of horrible experience in their with staff treating you like dirt. I left the office many times feeling miserable and annoyed.

You can apply for Supplentary Welfare Allowance in the meantime http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Basic-Supplementary-Welfare-Allowance.aspx & the amount you receive will be automatically deducted from your backdated JSA payment when the time comes. That way you won't be left without any money in the meantime.
