Just taught I'd let you know I got a Samsung Full HD 32" LED TV, 100Hz, with 1 USB, 3 HDMI and a Scart for €199 in Tesco Balbriggan over the weekend. Having extensively researching the big big box stores I couldnt find one of similar spec at that price

I had a look in Tesco Naas.

they have a shed load of tvs.

3 samsung tvs that are 32" that are 199
    a 28" that is 199
    loads of "manager Specials"

they are blaukpunt, toshiba, sony and samsung,

most of the tvs on the walls have their prices reduced, like the lg 32la620v, down to 199 from 650,
but they are out of stock.

I went into Drogheda to buy a technica one, They were out of stock so i just said id chance balbriggan. The one I wanted originally was a toshiba, same spec, just had an extra usb. They were out of stock of that one, but he had the samsungs. Its a grand tv. Looking online, similar spec is twice the price

Despite what samsung advertised, it's a 50hz set.

I was looking for a 40" tv (non smart) for my mother over the weekend and looked everywhere inc Tesco and I ended up going a 39" Panasonic in Currys for €298, the only one I saw with 100Hz at that price.

Do you have a link to that TV ? Thinking of getting a new one for the Xbox.

Just having a read of the Hz and how Samsung measure them. It's interesting but I'm still happy with my purchase. Simply because pretty much all of the brands are using this method. And theyre still measured at 50hz, my one excells either on its refresh rate, VPU, or panel. It's a fine tv, excellent picture, and unlike my 47" €1000 LG, there's absolutely no shadow when watching football. I'd still highly recommend it esp when ya look at what the market is offering Finlux, Walker, Old LG LCD's etc

Picked up a JVC 40C540 ( 40" ) in Currys for €289. Not a smart TV but perfect for the mobile home.

Every TV I have has been bought in Currys on a bank holiday - always good deals on those weekends.

It's a good TV, yes. And at that price point, it's no-brainer.

good telly, crystal clear HD picture

but viewing angle is poor, if not looking at it directly the colours look washed out and faded

Was looking for a 32", so bought a Sony. Absolutely delighted with it.

Thanks for the heads up OP.

Is there any left in Balbriggan or anywhere in Dublin ?

Does anybody know if it's available in any store in Dublin. This would be the perfect replacement for my current TV. The cheapest place for this TV that I have found is this one http://computerpartsireland.com/products/SAMSUNG-UE32H5000-LED-television.html

    Thanks! :)
