Surveoyr's report - treating roof timbers

We've bought a house in the past six months. The surveyor was happy that the house is structurally sound. In his report he recommended that we get roof timbers checked and treated by timber treatment specialists. He indicated 1500 to 2000 euro for this work in his report.

We're first time buyers and I'd appreciate any bit of light people could shed on this. Is it a fire safety point? Is the price about right? It's the only thing in the report that isn't totally obvious to us as non-construction people and essentially I'd like views on what it's about and how important it is.

How old is the house. Why not ask him to clarify. When he says get the roof timbers checked i imagine he's talking about Woodworm or dry rot.
Both unlikely in a recently modern house. But check anyway.
As to the treatment you can do it yourself by buying wood preserver 33E for 5 litres as I only used some a few weeks ago. Then but a spray bottle and go over all timbers twice. Just follow instructions and wear a Mask.
