I'm really wishing we didn't bother DIYing our invites now. It's such extra hassle! Anyway, we've designed our invites and they're 7x5 (7 inches left to right, let's say, or landscape). I'm having trouble finding envelopes though. Where did you other DIYers get yours?

I was the same half way through, why the hell do we do it to ourselves??
I got mine on eBay but our invites were 1/2 A4 size so pretty standard.
Etsy suppliers may do something custom for you.

Hi faith I got envelopes for mt 7x5 invitations from cards and pockets. They are based in the US so you do get caught for taxes. I got the 7.5 x 5.5 outer envelopes

We're just starting on the diy invitation route so I'm still full of wide eyed optimism that it will be fun. I think the envelopes below might be the right size as they came with something we ordered that was just under 7*5. I'll check the dimensions when I get home and let you know!

Edit: Just checked and they're 7.5 by 5.5, not perfect but they could work. They ship from the UK so no customs taxes and I've found then brilliant to deal with.

One of the lessons I learned was, first, source your envelope, then, make your card to fit. I had on occasion made a handmade card only to realise none of my envelopes were the right size and ended up making my envelopes. Try asking in the arts and crafts section here, someone may be able to advise regarding getting envelopes locally.

I think you need size c5 envelopes, I've ordered some recently from a uk website and I'm nearly sure they are 5x7.

Google Wedding Stationery Supplies and you should find something. I heard of this place but haven't used it myself:

I got mine in tescos, or most craft shops just get plain one and then decorate them or get a nice punch and do it that way

See, it's different between the US and the UK. C5 is 9x6 from what I can see. In US sizes, I'm looking for A7, but in the UK, that's called C7 and it's much smaller than 5x7! It's a pain in the ass trying to work it out.

I checked Cards & Pockets, and their stuff is gorgeous, but shipping was nearly $60!! The imaginediy website is frustrating because they don't provide sizes, which puts me off. The website Jellybaby1 linked is a definite possibility, depending on shipping costs. I also found https://www.ideal-envelopes.co.uk/ which is reasonably affordable too :).

It's soooo confusing. I checked my email receipt and it was actually size G5 (sorry!). Now that I remember, it was hard enough to find envelopes! I ordered from premierenvelopes.co.uk but we're based in the UK so you need to check delivery etc. The receipt has colourcraftdirect.com on it and they seem to have more selection. Anyway, best of luck with it - feels very real once the invitations go out!!

Milly, I live in Canada, I can't just pop down to Tesco! And I want something a bit plusher than plain white envelopes, so an online retailer is best for a variety of reasons.

Would you recommend them? Their prices are good, but half of their website's links are dead so it makes me a little nervous!

I would recommend them yes, no hassle with the order and delivery was quite quick. I ordered through the premier envelopes website and went with the hammer speciality white envelope, it has a nice feel to it. We would have preferred a heavier envelope but to be honest time was running out and I'm happy enough we went with these. Hope you find what you are after, at least now you have a size to work with! Best of luck :)

I've taken a chance and ordered from premierenvelopes, based on your recommendation :). Thanks!

eek!! Hope you're happy with them, at least they're not too expensive so worth the chance. I'll be honest, we ended up over-thinking the envelopes. We hand delivered quite a lot of the invitations and really no-one noticed the envelopes, they were ripped opened and binned without much thought. Besides, I'm sure your invitations are fab and thats all anyone ever comments on!

Have to agree with this. I spent $60 on 140 envelopes from cards and pockets so the envelopes would exactly match my invitations. I don't think anyone will notice and I could easily have just used a nice Ivory envelope. But at the time I was all happy planning everything to match. Now I'm not so bithered and just want to get them in the post!
