Should polygamists/polyamorists be allowed marry...

...there's a lot of nonsense floating around about the upcoming referendum, the whole "well will we be able to marry animals next/should siblings be allowed to marry" stuff.

But did hear someone ask if polygamists should be allowed marry, and have to concede I can't think of a good reason why not. If 3 or more people love each other, should they not be allowed to marry each other? Why should the number be limited to 2? Is that an outdated concept with its roots in the whole heterosexual/ marriage/ traditional family concept?

That's too ambitious. Start with bigamy.

Let people do what they want. Just don't be a prick to people

Can't think of a valid reason why not. But we need to get SSM passed first before we can ride that slippery slope.

    Wheeeeeee

Would be a legislative nightmare with regard to succession rights

The marriage laws would need to change drastically before polygamy could be permitted but otherwise I can't see why not ie what consenting adults do in their own time etc etc

They are allowed to marry. Just not more than one person at a time.
