Advice on new car (upgrade from 1999 Fiesta)

    Hi folks,

    So I'm in the market for an upgrade on my '99 Fiesta which, though a fine starter, is on its last legs. Any suggestions?

    I use public transport for work so it wouldn't clock up too many miles all in all.

    I'd favour a hatchback - it doesn't need to be too fancy but primarily something from 2007 up that's cheap enough to run and reliable.

    By default I've been looking at VW Polos but have also been tempted by a 2009 Kia Rio and maybe a Fiat Punto.

    Budget is around €5500.

    Any other suggestions/advice would be much appreciated
