Looking to get something which is proving more difficult then I thought to buy locally, but of course is on Amazon UK. My question is can this be put in as checked in baggage? It's a Kitchen blow torch. To be specific: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0001IWYIC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
Since it cannot be posted directly to Ireland, looking to get a relative to bring it over in about 2 weeks.
    Thanks in advance!

Just use parcel motel and save yourself the hassle. Amazon deliver to a Parcel Motel NI address and ship to a locker near you.

Thanks. I actually have 4 other small items I need, of which 2 of them cannot be shipped to Ireland, and the remaining 2 cost more then their value to ship to Ireland. I know it sounds messy...

I guess it would be fine as long as there's no gas canister included or if the 'refillable cylinder' is empty. Tough to prove the latter though.

You could google your carriers list of prohibited items, each has one, and will specify items that can or cannot be carried on the person, in hand luggage, checked baggage etc

Just using FR as an example:

Airlines have long lists of "dangerous goods" which are limited or prohibited from being in commercial passenger aircraft best bet is to check with your airline in advance to avoid waste of time and money

As already said, Parcel Motel is the best thing to use. Set up an account with them and nominate your closest motel. Then when ordering on Amazon, specify the Parcel Motel Address in Northern Ireland, and not the one in Finglas.

It will then come to your closest parcel motel at a cost of 3 or 4 euro.

I bought a 5 litre chemical drum for mixing with concrete (not on amazon) to make it bind better. I had to get it to give it back to a guy who I borrowed from with the intention of buying him a new bottle. As it turned out it went out of stock in Ireland.

So, it would have cost £80 to deliver to Ireland, or £20 to Northern Ireland plus the cost of parcel motel.

Like the airlines, Parcel Motel have a list of things that can and can't be transported...

No harm in getting in touch with them before you order in case they won't accept it for delivery...

    Maybe a stupid answer....

Why not just buy one in Ireland? Taking postage into account, this one works out in or around the same price, from an Irish supplier.
