Upgrading to Freesat from como box

I'm thinking off getting a Freesat box to replace Ferguson Ariva 120 stb.

1. Will Arivia box work for DTT without satellite lead.

2. Freesat box: Am looking at Humax HDR-1000S as €200 is top of my budget.
However, Free tv have it for that, http://www.freetv.ie/humax-hdr-1000s-freesat.html while satworld http://www.satworld.ie/humax-foxsat-hdr-500gb-freesat-recorder.html have it for €268 with a warning

BEWARE of other sellers selling Second hand/Refurbished receivers just below the cost of a BRAND NEW receiver!

So are Freetv boxes new or not.

3. Cheaper option might be Freesat box with 7day epg and usb recording, would it me much cheaper and any recommendations please.

I've not come across and freesat box with USB recording , would not really make marketing sense for freesat to allow this

Humax HB-1000S is a single-tuner Freesat box that lists 'Optional Recording Ability' via 'plug in hard drive recorder'.

Don't know how it shapes up pricewise to the HDRs.

There are a few ways to tackle this, the box you are looking at is the latest version and has things like bbc iplayer etc that wont work in ireland so not a lot of good. You may know a way around this and if you do then its a good box but tell me as well how to get bbciplayer and I'll get one a well. The other option is to buy Humax Foxsat HDR (320 GB) DVR Freesat+ ie the original and best humax. I have one and it has never missed a beat in years. The only difficulty is these boxes are for uk/Northern Ireland. Ok if you are near border and can get to richer sounds etc.

I use ebay and do a bit of research. And use parcelmotel.

free tv have a god reputation and price is not bad.

I have the Humax HB 1000S for the past few months paired to a 500 GB external hard drive, the main purpose for this in my case is for pause and play but it can also record but as its a single tuner box you must watch the same programme that is being recorded, however each TP has a number of channels so you can actually watch another channel while recording.....provided its on the same TP, for example one can watch either BBC2 or BBC3 while recording BBC1, an unexpected bonus in my case but someone pointed out to me "that this should be considered more as a side effect". Theres no problem in pairing the HD with the Box, its just "plug and play".

All Humax and Manhattan Freesat boxes sold on freetv.ie are 100% brand new, genuine and original boxes. Dave:)
