Well lads I know this is a hunting thread but there is a big dog show on near me tomorrow and its my first time entering.

I have a lovely looking lab which I am training up at the moment but a couple of people have told me I should show him as he is a great example of the breed.

Basically im trying to make a field champion out of him not a show champion and im only entering him for socialising but was just wondering what should I do to physically prepare other then just showering him?

How old is the dog and how serious is the show i have shown the red setter a few times and he has won best in show but he is also a hunting dog, a show lead is important as it helps to hold the head up u will be asked to move the dog around the ring and may be asked to show the dog coming to and going away from the judge also the dog will be asked to show the dog standing still the judge will examine head, teeth bone stucture and stance may even check that a male dog is a full dog . dog would have to be well used to being handled, there more to it then just going into the ring but again depends on how serious a show it is
