Mould mould mould

    Hi all,

    Your help and advice please.

I have black spotty mould and some white feathery type stuff that's causing the plaster to peel along my bedroom and bathroom ceiling where the ceiling meets the back wall. Renovated the house three years ago - we have external insulation on the back wall and sprayed fibreglass insulation in the attic. Regrettably the insulators didn't lift the old rolled insulation from the attic joist before they sprayed the new stuff. I presume this should've been lifted out first. I presume there should be some gap between the joists and the new sprayed insulation. I presume the eaves should've had vents installed. And I presume the mould is coming from where the external insulation meets the new insulation that's up against the eaves. Any comments would be appreciated.

    Now for fixing it
    - how to clean the mould? Is there injections I can out in.
    - I tried to get up to get attic to have a look but couldn't get anywhere near the eaves
    - I'm thinking a flat board that I can stand on the insulation so I don't stand through the ceiling and rake the insulation back from the eaves and put a few vents in the eaves.
    - at worst, would I have to suck all the insulation out and do it right again.

    Thanks all.

Is there a good mechanical extractor in all bathrooms & kitchen?

And is there a 4inch wall vent or continuous strip vent (permavent')at the top of windows in each room?

    - ....ish. It was working better but less so now. The bathroom dos lights are singing down a little so I wonder if the steam was rising from underneath. We always have bathroom window open. The bedroom mould isn't near the bathroom as such.

    - yes in the bedroom. No in the bathroom.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate any input.
