    There is no relief for the first €2,500 or so (depending on the year in question)

    That was exactly it - for my years in question it ended up being:
    2012 - €2,250
    2013 - €2,500
    2014 - €2,750

    So the maximum relief of €7,000 - each of the above, means that for a single student and @ the .20 rate it's applied it the actual 'cash value' ends up being:
    2012 - 950
    2013 - 900
    2014 - 850

    I can't complain, it's more money than I would have had otherwise. In fairness to Revenue they were quite quick with the whole thing and their numbers were spot on.
