pipe to toilet cistern leaking

The pipe to the toilet cistern is leaking quite heavily and so we have turned off the water mains outside and turned on the taps to empty the water tank in the attic.
Is it possible to pit on a fire in the stove to heat the water in the radiators then or could this cause the boiler to burst if there is insufficient water in it? Thanks
