Installing Door in Existing Masonry Wall. Rough Idea of Cost?

    Hi Guys,

We want to cut a hole in the wall of the existing masonry wall of a warehouse in order to create access to a prefab building located beside it.

We'd probably have some kind of slightly larger than usual door of circa 1.5 - 2m wide that would be need to be pretty secure (steel I guess) and then have a steel shutter on the outside to secure it further.

If anyone could give me even a very rough idea of the cost of doing this I'd appreciate it and indeed of who would be best suited to carry out this kind of work (regular builders etc)

Some of my research suggested that perhaps you'd need to consult with a structural engineer also, seeing as the cutting a hole in the wall could weaken the building structurally. The side of the building in question is pretty big, it's about 30-40m long.

Any advice would be much appreciated, I know next to nothing about construction.
