Job coaching

I wonder if anyone has used career guidance in whatever form or a job coach to change job or career? I've done office work for years and I want to change.

I've read Jane Downes's career book and found it interesting. Would anyone recommend visiting her for a consultation? Or is there another good job coach out there? I'd be looking for someone with a great knowledge of the jobs market and courses that could almost guarantee a job at the end of them (of course).

I've done online tests to see what jobs might suit, but wanting to be a rock star is one thing and getting a career as one are two different things. (I don't want to be one, btw - I'm way too old, for a start!) So I don't find the 'what would you like to do' approach very useful.

Am I hoping for too much?
