    Hey Guys,

The old bora is on her last legs and wont pass another NCT, need to upgrade and would like to get something bigger as the bora was very small for our family needs.

Got around 10-12K and was thinking of a Skoda Octavia, due to the size of it and i am looking for something comfortable as i commute about 150KM per day.

Just wondering if i should be thinking of something else.

    Thanks

I had a skoda octavia and found it a good solid car. Changed to a focus estate which i find excellent. Loads of room for family needs. I have an 08 1.6 diesel which does 55mpg. Fords are probably cheaper than skodas for servucing etc aswell. Worth a look.

While the Octavia has a large boot it's rear legroom is tight enough, it is still based on the same platform as the Golf which the Bora/Jetta is a saloon version of.

I'd be looking at the class above for something with more space and comfort. Something like a Mondeo, etc.

Thanks for that i never considered the legroom aspect of it, the bora with one child is tight enough.

Will need to check it out in detail before i buy, was also considering a Kia Ceed estate seen a couple they seem nice and spacious.

Newer Octavia is bigger than the Bora in the back though. Bora = mk4 golf,, Octavia II = mk5 Golf

Avensis is also worth considering. Plenty of space, decent fuel economy, comfortable and reliable:

Thats what i thought, we went and looked at some and they seemed bigger but the big wow factor was the boot.

Damn that avensis is nice, i hadn't really considered Toyota as i was going with brands i know are reliable. The only thing i wouldnt touch is renault as the mother in law has one and its in bits.

I found the MkII Octavia rear leg room still to be on the tight side but I'm used to driving bigger cars so maybe it suits your needs.
