airtightness of newly installed windows

I have just had aluclad windows installed along with external wall insulation, and the cavities have been filled with insulation also. The construction of the house is 100mm concrete block, 100mm cavity, 100mm inner concrete block. The gap between the new windows and the existing window reveals was filled with foam, a wire mesh was screwed to the window reveals and these were then plastered and skimmed, but no airtightness tape was applied.

Does this mean that there will be cold bridges around all of the windows and possibly draughts either now or in due course?

If so, can anyone suggest a solution? Can e.g. airtightness tape be applied to the plastered reveals and that this is then plastered over? And if so, is there a specific type/make of tape that should be used in such a case (pm's appreciated in case the brand cannot be mentioned here)? Or would the new plaster on the reveals have to be removed, the airtightness tape applied, and the plaster + skim applied again?

Your ewi detailing should have dealt with thermal bridging of the opes.
No air tightness tape means that the wall to window frame junctions will more than likely leak into the future

There is no reason why the windows cant be taped and reveals re-plastered (assuming, of course, there is enough window frame available).
There are several air tightness product brands available but I would recommend a Swiss brand that sounds very much like Liga as they have a complete range of product.

    thanks for the info, MicktheMan.

when you say "leak" do you mean leak air (i.e. draughts) and/or water?

in relation to applying tape at this stage, do you mean applying it to the existing plastered reveals or removing the plaster, applying tape and re-plastering?

    1. Air
    2. Either. If enough window frame available, then replastering may be easier.
