Hi, Iam 26 and looking to get a bike. Was thinking of starting with a Honda shadow Iam going for an A license and wondering would a 750cc be allowed on a learner permit. And also the IBT does that have to be paid in total or can you split the payment.

There is an excellent learner/ noob thread in the motorbikes forum and there are instructors that post and give you some great info.

As you're over 24 you can ride anything you can get insurance on without any restrictions after completing your IBT for A.

The trick is decide what kind of bikes you like and go from there but it will be true of all cruisers that they will be cumbersome. My brother has a Shadow 1100 and I'm amazed how it just keeps on truckin' without much more than fresh oil and tyres.

As for IBT, the first thing to know is that you can split the cost if you do it in tandem with someone else but really the first thing to do is talk to a trainer and see what they can do for you. They will also advise you about the practicalities of learning and the lessons and there is quite a bit to know more than cars and you'll soon know if you want to take the plunge.
