Podiatrist - Local Anesthetic

Could someone advise me on this please?

I was seeing a podiatrist for an ingrown toenail last year and was advised if it recurred I'd need it partially removed (from nail stem) and as this involved local Anesthetic she couldn't perform it due to government regulations prohibiting using Anesthetic.

It's since recurred and I've been seeing another podiatrist who performs it and claims that it's nonsense re use of Anesthetic.

I've looked at other podiatrist who seem to perform it also.

Does anyone know the exact regulations with podiatrists using Anesthetic.

    Thanks.

A properly qualified podiatrist can perform minor nail surgery with local anaesthetic.

I'd take a guess that the first podiatrist wasn't completely qualified - or insured possibly. I had a quite severe - both big toes, both sides - removal and nail bed destruction done with local anaesthesia by a podiatrist who was entirely in compliance with the law.
