Dubai - Reasonably priced accommodation?

    Hi there,

I will be going to New Zealand later in the year and on the way home I want to stop in Dubai for a night or two. I'm assured that Dubai is relatively safe for a solo female traveller but would still like some recommendations for tried and tested, secure accomodation that is fairly reasonably priced?

    Thanks in advance!

Depends on the area you want to stay, I usually stay in Al Barsha, which is where Mall of the Emirates is, it's about 20 minutes from the airport and has great transport links (bus, metro).

I've stayed in Citymax which was grand, very safe and popular with tourists. Also stayed in the Centro by Rotana in Al Barsha which was also fine.

You'll get cheaper accommodation up around Bur/Deira but it's generally not of a great standard and I didn't feel all that comfortable up there, even though Dubai is a very safe city.

Thanks Liz! How much approximately did those places cost you, if you don't mind me asking?

I would like somewhere cheaper but totally understand that Dubai is not a cheap place to stay and I want to feel safe, so if that means paying a little extra, so be it!

I reccommend ivory grand hotel apartments, they were about 100€ a night with breakfast and very nice, safe and all

I think they're both around the 350 dirhams per night mark. Which is about about 85 euro a night now, with the bad exchange rate for the euro.

There's plenty of good hotel apartments around but if it's just you, you're as well on booking a hotel.

    Thanks Uli & Liz.

Also, I have another question, perhaps you could help with. Again related to me being solo - I really want to do the desert safari but from the few websites I've looked at it seems like you have to have a group? Have any of you booked onto these tours on your own? :-)
