Crows going for lambs tongues

Does anyone ever see crows going for lambs tongues instead of their eyes? I'm seeing it an awful lot this Spring. I know that crows are devious vicious buggers but I can't understand why they are leaving eyes alone and going for tongues. In apparently healthy lambs too (albeit mostly twins). Anybody have similar experiences?

My father saw it this year, pair of twins born healthy, he left them for an hour and went back to find, probably grey crows, had taken one of the lambs tongues - first time I ever heard of it happening.

It's unbelievable. Even after the lamb is dead they don't go near the eyes. Glad it's happened to someone else so I know I'm not going nutso!

Larsen mate, larsen traps, letterbox trap/latter trap.

    Kill, kill, kill :)

There is no redeeming feature to a greycrow, they'll nearly always leave you with a maimed animal.

I will say this for them, they don't like the bigger birds around. Saw 2 grey crows chasing off a big bugger of a raven just this week

We regularly get grey crows taking tongues...not this year, ewes are all strong as they have had plenty of nuts.. they don't seem to need as much help lambing as a result so no tongues gone this year (fingers crossed it stays that way..horrible thing when it happens !!).

Happend here last week.. grey crow came along and picked half the tongue out of the lamb while he was being born. Then made an attempt at his eye only for a saw him . There dangerous feckers.
