They're not for learning, they're for exposure.

Here lads, Joshua Synder was a stepping stone for Matt Kobrov in 2012 which was a UD over 8 rounds, this guy is actually a decent step up for young Jason. Plus Ossie Duran was no light wieght lads i know he won well against Synder but the young fella needs to look at lads who have been in with the best and Justin DeLoach is a decent fighters, this was no push over...

This fight was broadcast live on Fox so there was great limelight and exposure on it. The kid is sparring with Shane Mosley Jnr and Snr this week on 4 rounds with each back to back.

This lad is 23 an up and coming fighter, and they are trying to get him a fan base before pushing him. His record looks good although the opponents in the 2 previous to Synder are questionable MMA switch fighters.

Lets give the lad some slack, his is one of our most successful amateur boxers and again he is only 23. So lets hold off slating the lad for while.

Quigley's opposition up to this point had been dreadful, so this was in fact a decent step up for him. Snyder is past his best these days, but this is a guy who has some wins against okay fighters (Aaron Pryor jnr and John Mackey), and was the first guy to take some rounds of Matt Korobov is his professional career.

He's 23 and hasn't been a pro even a year yet. If he's fighting similar fighters a year from now, then you might have some argument.

How the hell are people criticising the guy's opponents after six fights? Look at Golovkin's first six opponents - http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=356831&cat=boxer

    Get real ffs.

Just watched his fight there. I just wished he'd work off the jab a bit more(he had a very good one in the amateurs). Since the start of his pro career, he seems hell-bent on throwing a lot of powershots and with the level of opposition that he's facing, he can get away without needing to set shots up.

Have people been impressed on what they're seeing of Quigley so far? I know you can't argue with his record but his work does seem to be rushed.

I completely agree with you as regards the jab. I have been completely underwhelmed by almost all of his pro performances so far, but I must say the Snyder fight is the best I've seen of him. Sure there were loads of flaws, and plenty to work on, but it's the first time I felt like I saw some development in him since he turned pro.

I still believe Conrad Cummings is the better Irish Middleweight prospect, but Quigley has huge amounts of potential so long as he gets the right training, sparring and fights to bring him along properly.

I thought he looked good to be honest. Yes, there was never any danger there from his opponent so he can throw what he wanted, when he wanted and didn't have to set up his power shots or work his way in. That's true.

But you can only beat what is put in front of you. You don't throw your fighter to the wolves in his first 10 fights. That's career suicide. You build him up slowly. They are doing the right thing.
