Hi, I'm going to Marrakech in June for 3 nights. Just look for advice from anyone who's been before?

Looking for things to do and any advice on what to avoid & common tourist no-no's.

    Cheers

Depends on when in June you are travelling, but be aware that ramadan, the month of daytime fasting, starts about the 17th June, 2015.

Hmmmm I fly there on June 18th. What effect will Ramadan have on tourism?

Just put "Marrakech during Ramadan" into a search engine and you will get a lot of info.

    A few small things
    1. Morocco will return to GMT during ramadan (ie 1 hour behind Ireland summer time)
    2. Eat a good breakfast at your hotel as many food places will be closed during the day. Many even close for the whole of ramadan. Places that cater mainly to tourists should stay open though. Seek advice from your Riad / Hotel host.
    3. Remember when you do eat / drink (and especially if you smoke) during the day, be discrete.

Moroccans, especially in the tourist centre of Marrakech, are aware that tourists are not Muslim, and won't expect you to fasting.

Cheers for the advice, I'll def look into that!

Anyone got any activities or places to see that they'd recommend? I'm not too pushed on a dessert safari or camel trekking.

Just visiting the grand souk will be a day out in itself. It's amazing.

Bear in mind that it will be incredibly hot there in June - 35°+ is not unusual. Stay hydrated and don't go charging around trying to do/see everything. You'll be sweating just standing still! :D

My trip is next week, just realised I probably should have ordered currency. Is this a good idea or would ot be safe to expect ATMS at Marrakesh airport when I arrive?

There are several ATMs in the airport arrivals area so I wouldn't bother

You might be restricted to €150 per day in local currency from the ATM's there as it's outside the EU, check with your bank.
