My partner applied for tickets to the Lls and received an email today saying she got 2 tickets to the special season finale on 29 May. Email also states black tie attire. Does all emails say this or is this something different. I don't remember seeing anyone at any stage on the late late show wearing a tux. Don't own one and don't intend to either so any help be appreciated

That's unusual. They normally say something like "dress code is smart/dressy" but I haven't seen Black Tie mentioned before.

Maybe you could email them back to check, if they really insist on black tie maybe they would swap your tickets for another week.

Rang up rte and spoke to lainey o'brien who organises the audience at the shows and she said it is black tie tux and floor length dress for women and she couldn't tell me anymore just that it was a big thing so I havent a clue what to be expecting. I Think I'll hire and go should be a bit of crack if anything else.?

You can buy tux and shirt in Marks and Spencer's for less than it cost to rent one.

Thanks for that didn't even cross my mind to buy one as I can't see myself wearing it anytime in the near future

Yeah, might be worth it for the craic.

If nothing else you might get a good Audience Prize, seeing as they are making you dress up.

Threat Level raised to Orange - chances of hysteria around here on May 29 are now considered "Significant"

All the audience prizes in the world wouldn't be enough for me to sit through an entire Late Late, without having the option of switching over to Graham Norton during the misery section.

    Ah come on now, lads.

Isn't it far more likely to be some half arsed bit o' nonsense like that one with that blind date rubbish a while ago.

Black tie? My money's on some sort of romantic debs sh*t.

You can already hear the out of time clapping.

...or else they've found Paul Costello stealing food from the bins behind the canteen again. So we're in for a lecture about how badly dressed we are and how we all need to buy a frock off him.

I see DLB in various places on this site. What does it mean?

    Or it could be...

*puts on deerstalker hat, lights pipe*

    A same-sex couple getting married live? :)

Ok, so from now on, everytime someone asks this question, we shall all refer them back to page 1. Agreed?

DLB= "Dainty little Bugger". Rhys Ifans a few weeks ago called Tubridy this. It has now stuck.;)

Only if they were going to do it by Skype, because one of the couple is in Australia.

But wait, lets see who we have backstage who just HAD to be at the ceremony?!

    *Gasp*

    It's the Australian one!

    *tears*

    *ads*

Thank you. I didn't realise there was a thread about nicknames for Ryan Tubridy.

Hi we have tickets for this show also, I was wondering what was with the black tie attire statement.

Hopefully there will be some decent audiance giveaways if it's a "special show" (so they quote)

I can only hope that it's Tubridy's last show. After the tripe that was served up yesterday somebody has to go. How the hell they can follow a debate on a referendum with a Z list foul mouthed celeb that most of the LLS audience have never heard of is beyond me. Have her on earlier if you will, have her on the SNS, but that debate should have been on last and it should have been let run.

Tubridy seems to be so terrified of making a mistake that they had the clock on that segment from the off, you could see the relief in his face when the debate was over and he could relax with the Geordie Shore woman .

It's appaling that he gets €500,000 a year for that, the only issue is who will replace him, probably that pontificating egomaniac Ray D'Arsey.

Hoping the same considering they're making us dress up :)

Fingers crossed for good prizes, hope it's not similar to last years' finale which was like a boy band special....

Dermot Bannon will be dancing Bollywood style for Barnardos; Majella O’Donnell will be doing the jive for Arc cancer support; George Hook will be doing the Charleston for the IRFU charitable trust and Maria Walsh will be doing the salsa for Bumbulance.
