    Evening all,

Hoping for a bit of advice if possible please.

I'm a long time out of the biking game, injury followed by ankle biters, and my old bike which has been sadly rotting away isnt really cost effective to get back on the road, or suited to the type of riding I'll most likely be doing for the foreseeable.

I'm taking advantage of the bike to work scheme, and have been looking at both of the above. They seem to be kitted with good components at a good price, but I'm torn between both.

Essentially, initially I'll be doing very light trail riding with my 13 year old, and maybe I'm deluding myself in thinking I'll get back into more technical riding as my fitness improves, so I'm trying to talk myself out of buying the SL which is €300 more.

I know the old adage is buy the "most" bike you can afford, so any thoughts/ ideas/ opinions are welcome.

    I assume you mean SL?

I have an LTD Pro and use it only for trail riding, the usual coillte trails and a few others. I cant really fault it. It does exactly what I want it to for.

Form a quick look at the specs the SL has higher spec shifters, better wheels and a different fork and probably a few other different bits. If you're riding infrequently save yourself the 300 and go with the Pro. its a great bike. The pro comes in at around a 1000 (unless you're getting a super deal!) which maxes out the Bike to Work, so anything over that will be straight out of your pocket.

Either way they're both nice bikes.

Yeah, I did mean the SL. I popped an edit afterwards, but doesn't show on mobile.

I don't mind paying a bit extra, which I would be doing with eithe. And as I was saying, I think I'm probably deluding myself thinking I "need" the better components on the SL. I think it's more a case of I want them.
