At 50 of years of age and with 30 years work experience I’ve found myself unemployed for the first time in my life. I have tried to find a few Recruitment Agencies that I can work with but to my surprise, this has been much harder than expected, i.e. all the agencies seem to have specialist/niche areas such as Finance or I.T. My skill set and experience are quite broad (Customer Service, Internal Sales, Office Management, Logistics, Quality, etc.). I’ve had management positions in all of these areas and have always excelled. I have the skills, experience and personality to run a business or multiple departments, yet I cannot find a Recruitment company who seems interested. I’m the kind of person that gets things done and will have glowing references from previous employers (if only I could get an interview!). To-date my experience with Recruitment Agencies has been;
• I phone Agency
• Agency requests CV
• The end
Am I naive, is it an age thing?
Can anyone, from personal experience, recommend a Recruitment Agency which represents people with a broad range of “general” competencies and management experience who you believe would be a good fit for someone such as myself?
