Anyone else having problems with Samsung Kies. It used to work but stopped. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Samsung tried getting it to open remotely said it was a microsoft problem. Microsoft says it is not compatible it is Samsung problem. In the meantime I cannot back up my phone.

Kies is rubbish. There are easier methods. What do you need to backup?

Contacts, photos, etc. Also how do you update the software without kies. Mind you since I updated it last I have had battery drain and still haven't resolved that so it will be a long time before I buy a Samsung phone again. I need to send my Samsung grand duos back to them so want to be able to just put everything back with one click when I get it back or transfer to a new phone.

Contacts, calendars, settings, apps etc. are all stored in your Google account, software updates are sent OTA (over the air) and photos can be simply dragged and dropped on to a PC.

Airdroid is pretty good for wireless management of your phone or tablet. https://www.airdroid.com/

Yes, my Kies stopped working in the past couple of days. For several months now, Microsoft have been trying to get me to install an updated Samsung 'Mobile MTP device' driver along with other MS fixes but the Samsung driver install always fails. I'm not sure if Kies has finally decided it won't work without that updated driver.

Will never buy another Samsung phone after this and my phone having problems. It's a pity because I love the look of them.
