Getting a slight whirring/whining noise from rear driver side wheel at low speeds so in the interest of ruling out stuff like wheel bearings i think it might be time for some new rubber.

Was about to order 4 of these but was wondering if anyone has any left field suggestions ?

Have these on car atm and they have served me well for over a year,

    Any and all suggestions welcome

I have Uniroyal rainsport 3 all round and find them amazing.

Here's a suggestion... check your current thread depth before spending 500 quid to attempt to "rule out" a wheel bearing...

I have Dunlop sports on mine and find them great. Lot of people running the eagle f1's tho!

New tyres were being bought in the next few weeks anyway.

It could be one of many things, will be leaving it with mechanic tomorrow for a look anyway as i have found nothing concrete.

Goodyear efficient grips here, very happy with them.

Pirelli have just brought out a new tyre (p100 maybe??) which is cheap, €100 a corner for mine vs 120-150 normally.
I'm kinda waiting for someone else to try them out first:o

Camskill actually have an insane offer on F1's atm, but conversion rate really takes the good out of it. They are normally 97 sterling or so

Have the Eagle F1's on the Sti, find them very good. 120euro each fitted is what I paid for them locally.

They're a great tyre...but...they don't quite get the power down in the FR. Close...but not quite and there's not anything extreme to get down either. Otherwise they are hard to fault (and seriously quiet compared to the factory contis) but I'd give up a fraction of the good wear for being able to floor it in second again. I'll probably get the same again and be happy with braking, cornering and a swap every second service but that's for long spins. When I'm at home driving locally I really do miss the traction.

    It grates a small bit.

    The pirellis?

I'm pretty sure he is talking abou the Goodyears. The Efficient Grip and the Pirellis aren't an all out performance tyre to be fair. For all out grip you'd want the Eagle F1 rather than the Efficient Grip, but then you are sacrificing longevity and fuel economy....

OP, I think those Vredesteins are totally over-rated.

The last three sets I have had on the S4 have been
    Eagle F1
    Michelin PS3
    Continental SportContact 5

Very little to choose between the F1 and the PS3, jury still out on the SC5 as I've only done 1000 miles on them but initial impressions are good. I also think they are the best looking tyre of the 3, for what it's worth :pac:

Goodyears do give cartoon like levels of grip in all fairness

Well when I bought the Car a year and a half ago, they had the f1's on them. So they seem to last a while, and the car is around 320 bhp. plenty of grip

I find the Eagle F1s excellent. Transformed the car compared to the Chinese sh*te that had been put on by the previous owner.

Should have looked well on the front of mine:P

What's the name of them pirellis?

I have no problem with traction with the goodyears, but they are hardly under pressure from my yoke:o

P7 Cinturato. Doc put a set in the same size as yours on his last Octavia RS and reckoned they were decent. But he never keeps a car long enough to tell really!

Yeah for about 5000km until you had them wiped off it and were back looking for more Goodyears ;)
