Maybe try to un-assemble it first?

I assume I need to clamp the Nut (no.6 in the above link) and then using an allen key, undue the pivot bolt? But before I do, has anyone done this before? is it a left hand thread?

    Any help appreciated.

I've disassembled and reassembled a few calipers in my time. AFAIR all the threading are standard.

What's easy to overlook is the role of of the little grub screws for each pivot (they're labelled 2 in that diagram). The bolts through the pivots are not screwed tight - if they were they couldn't act as pivots. Instead each pivot bolt is tightened just to the point where there is no play in the pivot and then the grub screws are tightened to hold them at the correct tension.

To disassemble this should of course be reversed - loosen off those little grub screws before undoing the pivot bolts.
