Hello I'm looking for advice on an action camera I'm looking to purchase and whether it will be suitable or not for what I want to do it.

The camera I am looking at getting is the SJ5000 plus by SJCam this is the new version of the SJ4000 camera and the specs can be found here http://www.foxoffer.com/sjcam-sj5000-plus-ambarella-a7ls75-1080p-60fps-wifi-sport-action-camera-p-793.html#.VT6rOvm3Mm8

I'm looking to use the camera to take videos when I am on holidays over the summer to hopefully produce a holiday video montage similar to this https://youtu.be/99uVgsTQCCk or the many other videos traveling videos available on YouTube. The video will be for personal use only and I may put it on YouTube if I feel its good enough.

What I'm wondering is will the camera that I have linked above be suitable for what I want to do? If not what should I get? Also if there is something better that would be more suitable for what I want to do and if so what is it? Lastly what else will I need beside the camera, batteries, monopod and memory card so what accessories will I need that I might not have thought of.

The truth is, that almost any decent camera be it compact camera, DSLR, phone or anything will take 90% of those shots. What makes that video good is the editing, the diverse and interesting locations that they traveled and the music. The camera is just a small part of what was done to create that video to be honest.

As for the camera, I believe there are better out there for the money, xiaomi (spelling??) have released a similar camera which looks promising. Might be worth a look.

Have a read through the techmoan blog. Plenty of footage and I found it a useful site when buying last year.

Check the xiaomi camera, it buying its the model I'd go for.http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2015/3/30/the-full-xiaomi-yi-action-camera-review.html

hi I have the sjcam4000 and it takes pretty good video. sound quality is only ok so capturing good sound is really its limiting factor. there is very little sound with the waterproof housing is on.

I know that the majority of these shots could have been taken on a DSLR however mine is an old Canon 400d not capable of video and my phone video quality isn't great either. I also understand that the area and things they are doing makes the video and am planning out shots for mine.

Now onto the xiaomi yi ya it does seem to give better videos than the sj5000+ however its only sold for the Chinese market I know I can still buy it however I am worried about the lack of accessories which is one thing I like about the sj5000+ taking gopro mounts etc.

I have seen techmoans reviews but they didn't really answer my question whether its suitable for this kind of videos I think I'll just go for it anyway and buy it and I'm sure I'll find a use for it unless anyone thinks I definitely shouldn't.

I am also looking for where to buy it now as foxoffer are out of stock and don't know when they will have it back in stock so does anyone have any ideas where I could get a genuine one?

honestly it looks fine for what you described. I have the 4000 one. The camera itself is small and light and handles most situations well can be used to take photographs they are ok. a perfect little camera to always have in your bag.

I have the SJ4000 wifi version too. I'll be bringing it on our family holiday (along with a bunch of spare batteries/SD cards and mounts) with a view to creating a video later.Audio won't matter as I'll dub the video, and the kids can bring the camera with them when they go for a swim.:)

That's what I'm looking to do myself. What's attracting me to the Sj5000+ is the 60fps however I don't know if its actually important and if I will need it so can anyone on here enlighten me on the fps issue.

The 60fps would be of benefit for smooth slow motion edits. Not sure if the increased price over the SJ4000 and the poorer battery life is worth it though. I'll be bringing a dslr along too for stills.I bought my SJ4000 wifi from Gear Best (around €90 at the time of purchase) and bought a bunch of mounts/selfie sticks etc from Aliexpress for around $20.

I just decided to go for it and buy it. Cost me around $205 including a 32gb class 10 micro SD card, battery charger, 3 extra batteries, lens hood, floating handle and a selfie stick/monopod. I also plan on buying one of these big sets of random mounts and handles from Aliexpress once the camera has arrived.

Probably a bit late to reply, but I bought 4 x SJ600o cams online for doing live video footage.

So, it's dark in most situations, but am happy how the camera live up to the task.

    Demos here: http://www.thejukeboxkings.com/live-video/video-showcase-live/
