    Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a new motor and have a short list of BMW 5 series estate (10-11) or a passet CC (11-12). I currently drive a passet so know what to expect.

But my heart would love to upgrade to the BMW. Cost is of course an issue but I came across a 2011 5 series estate for €25k. 80k miles on the clock, high spec looks great. Supplier is GT motors up in ballyboughal.

looks like a good deal but wondering if anyone knows anything about the supplier. I'm assuming its a uk import which doesn't bother me but any help, advice or opinions are welcomed.
    Cheers

Odd choice between those two given one is a 4 door coupe and the other is an estate.

I had a CC and now have a 5 Series. All I say to you is if you are buying a 5 Series I'd pay a bit extra by buying from a BMW dealer with the 2 year warranty. It really is worth the extra money with those cars.

    DONT touch a BMW 3 R 5 Series.
There's a prob with their NZ 47 engine - cost about €5k to fix - Google prob with BMW Crank shaft for details. BMW Claim its sorted since Apr 2011 but their was no offical recall to retify the prob - I woukdn't trust them an inch.
    Better an Audi Quatro.

DONT go near a BMW 5 OR 3 series.
There's a major prob with the crank shaft on their NZ 47 Engine - Google 'Problem with Bmw 520 crank shaft' for details.

BMW Clain they sorted the prob for cars produced after April 2011 - I wouldn't trust them.
It costs €5k to have the prob sorted - BMW DID NOT recall any cars but sorted those who complained on the hush hush - In a lot of cases they charged circa €2K.

Go for an Audi Quato maybe but steer clear of BMW - The resale value will plummet on the B Mers.
