when i download my ride to Strava from my garmin 500 it always shows different readings to what are on the device, does anyone know why is this, readings that are different are av speed and time spent on bike.

The standard average speed and time on the Garmin includes time stopped, so if you turn it on and start recording a few minutes before going for a ride, stop at lights/junctions or stop to have a chat with a mate without pausing it, it's all included in your average.

If you scroll down further you'll see your average moving speed and moving time, which is what Strava uses.

On my garmin it shows 27 average and 1hour 36 moving time when uploaded to Strava its 26.6 average and 1.37 moving time. And we had no stops. I know differences are small and don't really matter but i am curious about why their is differences

I think one also corrects for altitude and snaps to road .
