I'll be starting my first job after finishing my level 7 computer networking degree and was wondering what would be the usual starting salary for someone working at an IT support desk whose only previous experience within the industry is a 7 month college work placement.

I'm starting on 22k and getting a bump to 24k after 6 months plus they're paying for all the certs I do with them, does this sound ok for someone in my position.

First job. Take it. Get some experience. That's what will help you negotiate a better salary... You may get an extra grand or two shopping around but if you have the offer take it, doesnt mean you can't look for something higher paid while you are gaining experience.

Grab it with both hands! Get a year or two experience, and then move on if you want.

I've already excepted the job, starting 4 days after I finish college, I think it could be a good stepping stone. I was just wondering if the salary matches the industry standard.

It's a fine salary for desktop. As soon as you start working, start studying for certs or your level 8 degree. If you stop learning you'll stay in help desk.

I'm getting 20500 in a non English language, which normally pays more.. so 22 or 24 isn't bad at all.

The fact they ate paying for your certs is worth money. So don't look on it as a low salary.
    Just get the certs.
