So i'm 16 and got my 1st job the other day. Its only for weekends now and I come out with around 180 for those 2 days.
So if my employer sends out my form 12a, how long will it take to get back?
Staff are paid at the end of the month so I won't be paid until the end of May, if my form 12a comes back before the pay date will I pay any emergency tax?
Finally how will revenue know that I'll earn under 12,000 for the year so I don't pay any tax, or do I pay the tax pay and get a refund the next year.
    Thanks

What kind of job do you have by the way?
    Your still under age?

Once Revenue process your form 12A you will be allocated tax credits (which will mean you won't pay any tax up to annual earnings of €16,500) and USC cut-off rates - so that you won't pay any USC if you earn under €12,012 in a year. That should mean that you should receive all the money you earn as you won't be earning enough to pay any tax.

It normally takes Revenue a couple of weeks to process a form 12A so hopefully it should be back in time before you get paid. If I were you, I would post it out myself rather than trusting your employer to do it for you. If you don't hear anything from Revenue by mid-May, I would suggest phoning them to follow up on it. If your employer receives your tax credits, etc before you get paid then you shouldn't have any emergency tax deducted from your wages. However if anything is deducted, you should get it back next month with next month's pay.
