Apple Tv 3 Audio problem

Hi I seem to have a problem when streaming from my MacBook Air to the Apple Tv i just bought. It skipping. Doesn't seem to be a problem with the AppleTV device because it streams netflix perfectly. Only has the problem when I am connected via airplay. Anyone know what could be wrong?

couple of questions?
Is your apple tv connected wireless or via ethernet?
whats the wireless signal stats on your mac like?
