Car Reg Not Found

I'm looking at a car on Donedeal, when I check the reg on Cartell or Motorcheck they say that the reg is invalid.

But when I check on the Motortax ownership change page, it lists the right car make and model.

Is there anything dodgy going on with the car?

Is it a fairly new import? Sometimes these take a couple of weeks to show up on the Cartell or Motorcheck pages.

I have little faith in Motorcheck and Cartell, wrong as often as their right so wouldn't be suprised

The ad doesn't mention anything about it being an import. Having another look it also doesn't mention NCT or tax.

I've never input a correct reg for it not to be found.

Why not throw it in on the NCT page!!! Type the license and it will tell you when the next NCT is due!!!! If the license is legit that is

It comes up on Nct website anyway.
Car is a UK import so maybe not in that long?
12D1161 is the last WD reg for that year showing up on Nct site so it's only just registered

If it's a private seller, you'd need to wonder why they'd get a UK car (with current exchange rates as they are) Vrt it, then sell it straight away.

It comes up on cartell and motorcheck if you remove the "D" from the reg.

Comes up as a Passat CC, which this car isn't

Yeah gave them a ring and asked, they imported it but don't like it? Might stay well clear.

    According to xe.com €14,599 would be £10,449

Adding on the VRT, I'd wonder why why you'd sell it for under €15k

OP; ask for the original reg plate number, and check it out before putting money down. If the seller doesn't want to give you the UK reg plate, or plays dumb regarding it having being imported, walk away, imo.
