Keep a mainly closed flock here but will be buying in a few ewes with lambs at foot this spring.Bit rusty on correct procedure when entering them in flock register and tagging them etc if tagging is needed.
Firstly do you cut out any of their existing tags and replace them with our own ones or do you just write their current tags no into the register as bought in ewes?
    Thanks for any replies.

As far as I know, if they are double tagged, you just note the tag number in your register. If they are single tagged, you can replace them with your own and make a note in the register.

Or just write in the dispatch number and number of sheep in the register if they are double tagged. No need to write individual numbers

Ya all you have to do is write down the number ya bought in and the movement docket no. I'd still write down the tag numbers too for myself.

Not sure what the procedure is on replacing tags on bought in animals though
