They're new and haven't been registered? Happens.
Usually there'd be trade plates in the windscreen

Driving around with no plates at all or could they have had trade plates in the front/rear windows?

Didnt see any trade or paper (import?) plates on any of the vehicles. Odd one tbh.

See this anywhere all the time.

A lot of dealers remove reg plates and put just the name of dealer or if on UK plates they strip them off and leave blank or put just the year on plate.

New cars also going around from dealer would be the same.
Usually as said they would have a trade plate sometimes so well placed you would never see it.
