Just received a bill from Irish water, we live in an area that has a "boil water" notice in force. Was informed that they will remove the money in a couple of weeks by direct debit.

No fúcking way will I pay for water that is considered undrinkable!
So I rang IW and cancelled the direct debit, they can go and fúck themselves.

    I feel better now. :P

Nice one OP, you've proved the point.

At least you have an option now not to pay.

    Boil the bill.
You'd be foolish to pay an Irish Water quango bill before the next general election.

Is there anything at all to be said for blasting them with boiled piss??

There's a lot of new guys that only signed up in the last few weeks, and they go around jumping on boardies that say anything bad about IW.

Heard a discussion on the radio about this exact scenario several weeks ago!

Irish Water is a new utility, and as such it has no records of water quality for any given premises, so bills are issued to everybody in the state for the very 1st time (until it can be ascertained which premises have 'boil water notices'). . .

It is then up to you (boil water notive people) to inform Irish Water of your personal situation (undrinkable water from the mains tap), the records at Irish Water will then be updated, and the water bill will be scrapped for those premises with undrinkable/dirty water.

You will not be expected to pay.

    Simples.

Bottle a sample, label it Biohazard and send it back to them to emphasise your point.

Besides drinking it you are still consuming water for toilets and appliances so you should pay for this usage.

Having removed the direct debit mandate, they can't "pull a fast one" now.
But yes, I don't expect to be pursued for payment.

How would you send it? An Post do not allow biohazards in the post.

You need to contact your bank and instruct them not to pay any money to irish water and to cancel any active or dormant debits on your account for Irish water.

FYI,All direct debits have to be refunded with 30 days if you request this
    Sepa rules

On the general point,it's unreal how IW don't know who is on a boil notice and how they are sending bills to people not connected to a public supply
    It serious ineptitude/bad management,easily averted

Surly it is known which areas are on boil notices? This information is not the preserve of residents. Could there not be some communication between the councils that issued the boil notices and IW? Or can I just claim to be on boil notice and IW have apparently no way of disproving this?

    In summary:
    1. You're on a boil notice.
    2. You registered with Irish Water and completed a direct debit mandate.
    3. Irish Water send you a bill.
    4. You rang Irish Water to explain your situation and get it sorted out.
    4. You throw a strop on the internet to get it sorted out.

So Irish Water's official records of "boil water notice people" will be based entirely on people writing in to say they are in such an area?

    ****in hell :pac:
