Haven't seen any threads about this yet. Fascinating new project from Google to launch their own global mobile network.

Android authority had a video up about it. What I don't understand is that they are saying it $10 per gb. Surely this would be an expensive service considering the amount of data people use. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

The prices in the states are crazy. Heard guys talking about being willing to pay $90 for unlimited Data.

That's crazy money to be paying. The networks here have unlimited data for a fraction of the price.

Apparently with fi it will use whichever signal is strongest lte or wifi. It will latch on to open wifi networks and your connection will be encrypted. Couldn't see a phone battery lasting very long searching for the best signal the whole time.

For the US this is probably a big deal since they pay outrageous prices compared to us. Good article on why it's not something we really should be excited about (it's UK focused but much of it applies to us as well): http://www.engadget.com/2015/04/23/uk-doesnt-need-google-project-fi/

The one really attractive feature though is the practically worldwide free data roaming, that would be VERY handy.
