Tagging mistake

    Lads, just double tagged a bunch of ewe lambs and realised I've put the tags in the wrong ears. Not sure how this happened! Do you think I'll have to retag? Normally I sell in the mart.

    Don't fret, I have done it. Leave them as they are, they are tagged properly anyway. I sold some last year like that and I wasn't too concerned.

    Others on this will tell you to retag in case you draw attention to yourself and end up with an inspection.

    As long as the animal was healthy and correct for killing , I don't think it would make much of a difference. Most likely they'll be bought by a butcher or factory. I'm sure they've seen it all before.

    Makes you wonder why they stipulate which tag goes in which ear. I mean if they are double tagged, why does it matter which ear is used for what?

    I think just in factory the automatic tag reader is located on same side as electronic tag in ear .

    Been there, always remember it that the "mart tag" is in the left ear. Got myself wondering which way around the electronic tag went early one morning, thank God for the spike :pac:
