Don't you need a program code too?
It's not a general bargain alert as anyone eligible needs to request the code from their work .

This is a program for software for employees of companies that Microsoft does millions of dollars (euros, pounds) of business with so afaik you'd already know about this if you could take advantage of it.

You might not also, I tried a random aib email address and got this response

Congratulations! You may be eligible to purchase!

You'll receive an email confirmation in just a moment.

    To Purchase
    Check your email inbox.
Click on the link provided in the email to access our store.
    Purchase your licence/product key.

A friend of mine works in AIB and didn't know she could get this.

This is not a general bargain alert - your employer must be part of the program, and you have to be able to receive the email to the address that you enter i.e. if you put in some random address that may give the message odddavey posted, but you have to get the mail in order to obtain and pay for the software

Yes but if you work for AIB or any other big company like HP, it is a bargain in my book. My friend who has worked for AIB ten years didn't know about it and she is telling her work colleagues on Monday.

Does anyone know if IBM are part of this program?
It doesn't like my email address :(

afaik (i've done the program for every iteration of office for the last 7 years) you register with a work email address but can nominate a home email address to receive the activation/code mails. I don't know if you "must" have access to the work email address you use. I got my codes through hotmail.

It's late and my memory is hazy, but I do remember thinking that anyone could say they worked for my company and get it.... which might mean no work address was involved.

    I'm going to bed :)

There are some gotcha's with this. [updated]

Mainly it totally relies on the company keeping their licenses up to date

    http://www.microsofthup.com/hupus/faq.aspx
The Home Use Program is a Software Assurance benefit available to Microsoft volume licensing customers with active Software Assurance coverage on their Office applications. Employees who use the covered licenses at work are eligible to purchase these Office applications for use on a home PC during the term of their employment. This temporary license expires with the employers Software Assurance coverage, or upon termination of employment with the covered customer.
    ...
The functionality of the products available via HUP matches those of retail versions, and provide all the benefits you would receive if you bought it at the store. However, your right to use this software is tied to your company's continued Software Assurance coverage and your continued employment with that company. Your employer will notify you if their Software Assurance coverage expires.

There are some massive gotcha's with this.

Mainly it totally relies on the company keeping their licenses up to date AND the admin not rescinding your license, for example when you leave the company.

Here 'you' means 'the company' not the user.

The OP is referring to the installable Office 2013, not the online 365

They don't enforce any of this from experience..
