Changing job after a week.

I recently got a new job and its been awful. I'm working in residential care and the conditions are dreadful, only two people on for a 24hr shift with no breaks. (We go to bed though of course.)

The shifts I did were a nightmare and I feel the service is really negligent towards both staff and clients. I was very upset after my shifts as one of the residents became very aggressive and we were barely able to deal with it.

I am thinking of packing it in, but I'm worried how this will look to potential employers when they see I left after one week. It's not really ok to slag off other organisations, so what can I say? I'm afraid if I say "it wasn't for me" they'll just think I wasn't up to the challenge or I'm a quitter. :(

Anyone have any advice?? It would be greatly really appreciated.

Don't include it on your CV or application form if you do leave. Can you speak to management about further training and support? Were you not given induction training or shadow shifts so you understood what to expect?

My mam worked(very briefly) in a residential care unit, and left for the same reasons.
On her second day there a colleague said to her 'oh your back!'.
They were used to so many people only working the day and then quitting.
If I were you I'd leave now if your sure you don't want to work there. Just don't mention it on cv

Cut your losses and leave. Leave it off your CV and should it even come up say you knew immediately it wasn't for you. I have a friend who does overnights in residential care and it sounds horrific. She is always being bitten and hit (she works with people with mental disabilities). It's a job that very few people are cut out for. So no shame in accepting it's not for you.
