A bunch of us became concerned in the Gigs and Events forum when we learned about a combined national bus and rail strikes taking place at the starting of May, middle of May and the final weekend of May. It will affect the events at Slane Castle with the Foo Fighters headlining, Forbidden Fruit festival in Dublin and Life festival in Mullingar. The dates being May 1st and 2nd, 15th and 16th May and 29th, 30th and 31st May.

Reading through that, I don't see anything about a rail strike? Seems to just be Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Well they share the same union I'm sure I saw news reports that rail workers were thinking of joining too, will see if I can find a link.

I'm fairly sure that would be illegal, Irish Rail have nothing to do with this dispute.

On the other hand, if there are shared facilities between the two companies and BE/DB staff were picketing outside, I'm not sure if IR staff would go to work that day which could possibly result in local disruptions.

No canna find a link, I just presumed that the rail workers were in on this too because they are part of the same union.

Rail didnt strike during the last bus strike. Likewise, the buses didn't strike when Irish rail did.

Not completely true, they are all members of the same pension fund, anything that damages that fund like removing 6,500 people from it over the next 5 years affects Irish rail employees as well.

Ultimately it will depend on how long it lasts as well. Rail workers have no direct reason atm to go out striking. That being said if the bus dispute becomes prolonged there is a risk that it COULD spillover into an all out National transport strike if as what was said further up the pensions were affected or there was risk of the government pulling the same shenanigans in the rail as well.
