Earning while on JSA

I'm just wondering if it's permissible to earn any small amount of money while claiming job seeker's allowance?

This would not be part-time work I'm talking about in the conventional sense, but in terms of making a quick buck (say €50 per week) through on-line activities.

The reason I'm asking is because I could make an extra €10 one week, and €50 a second week, but I'm unsure if the social welfare office needs to be aware of such small amounts of money.

Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks in advance!

No, not buying and selling materials, but using a technical skill - think of computer programming etc. - on-line to make small sums of money.

You would be considered as self employed, you need to tell the dept about this.

Always, always safer to disclose. No one has ever been hammered for over disclosing. Try think of the aim of JSA in these scenarios and it will help you. If you have income, great, and good news, hopefully will grow some more for you. At this point, I agree with MP22, self employed for the purposes of welfare, so ensure you let them know.
