My Daughter is due to start her exams on Monday and is due to finish on 5th May. She has not been well this last month and has been attending the doctor here at home.
We really dont know if she will be well enough to sit them although she says it is only 2 hours and she might manage
Is there any way around it or who should we contact about it

    Thanks a lot

You can defer them until August but you will need evidence to show you're genuinely unable to do the exam, eg sick note from GP. You c Also if she contacts her lecturers he/she might be able to arrange something.

More info on deferring is here: http://www.nuigalway.ie/exams/deferral.html

Contact the university and the departments/subjects she studies ASAP and state the problem. Exams can be deferred. If she may be able to sit the exams she could look to the alternative venues away from the main venues which may help her if she has been un well.
Main thing is contacting the University today ahead of next week

Hi my daughter got through her Monday exam and thinks she has passed She had maths today and found it very difficult. She failed maths in the xmas exam and has to repeat it in august. Her next exam is on Friday which she also has to repeat in August. Her last exam is on Tuesday and she thinks she will do ok in it.

If she repeats in August and fails will she have to repeat the year

Have you tried deferring the exams til August? Her health is more important than any exam.

It varies on how much you fail the subject, passing by compensation, results in other subjects, any continuous assessments results etc
Last year I had 6 repeats(have anxiety in exams...). I didn't pass all the actual repeat exams but my continuous assessment(essays) got me over the line. if unsure contact tutor/head of year/head of course etc

What course is she doing? I remember from first science people who failed xmas exams didn't have to repeat because their continuous assessment score brought them up. If she fails the exams in August she'll have to repeat the year.

She is doing Science and she fail chemistry and maths at xmas but I suppose we will just have to wait and see how her work all year will fair out

She can still pass then! As long as she's doing well in the labs/ assignments. I was in first year two years ago, labs/assignments are worth 40% then the Xmas and Summer exams are 30% each bringing you up to 100% overall. You don't have to pass the exams as long as your overall mark is 40% at the end of the year. I knew a few people who failed the Xmas Chemistry exam but managed to bring their overall up to a pass by the time the results were out in June. :)
