I get too attached to prospective partners

    Hi all,

I was wondering if you could help me please. I am a normal fella with by and large, I like going out and having a few pints and I love to meet the odd woman when I'm out too. That's all great, but unfortunately, I get very attached very quickly. Essentially if I start dating a lady, she will consume more of my day-to-day thoughts than she should if that makes sense. I don't text loads, nor do I call much, but within my own head I start to think of her too much.

Essentially I fall into infatuation very easily. Does anyone know how I can stop this destructive thought pattern?

    Thanks a million

Sorry, I've not got much advice, only to say that I'm a lady and am quite similar. I know how hard it can be - telling yourself so much to pull back, yet it seeming impossible.

No words of wisdom, but just wanted to say I get it.

    Stay busy??
I used kinda half be a bit like that....though now I'm gone half the other way....I get so busy with work/exercise in the evenings....that now I don't take time to message proper etc and things kinda fizzle out!!!

I think it's easy to get caught up in the excitement and nerves at the beginning and fantisising to some extent. I don't think it's an issue as long as it doesn't negatively interfer with your day to day actions and responsibilities and that you don't get disillusioned with the reality of where the relationship currently stands. You need to be sure that you keep your expectations of the woman in check and a realistic view to how she is perceiving the dates.
