Well, being "hot" is what's important. How many hundreds upon hundreds (if not thousands) of fitness mags/websites/tv shows/whatever do you see about how you have to be fit/slim/toned/etc to be attractive?

End of the day whatever is "in" right now is what is popular. People try to emulate whatever is popular.

I don't see why so many on here seem surprised.

Wasn't there a thread recently, would you pay to change your appearance, with a poll and the majority said yes.

Superficiality has been elevated to an art form in this generation, and its not just kids. Women constanly whinging about their looks, men all of a sudden giving a s**t about skincare and such like, mincing about in skinny jeans, photoshop adverts promoting unrealistic, unattainable images of physical perfection, tinder etc.

Hard to pin down one casue and even harder to prevent the new generation from being consumed by it. We have only ourselves to blame for creating these conditions in the first place.
