Honeymoon - January

    Hey,

I was wondering if anyone has any great honeymoon advice!

We had been kind of set on going to Argentina for our honeymoon in January and were hoping to go for 3 weeks - but looking at the cost of internal travel (flights and buses) and the current rate of inflation we're just wondering whether it will work out too expensive in the long run.

We could either cut down the honeymoon to 2 weeks and still go to Argentina but just see less or go somewhere else for longer where our money might go further.

If we go somewhere else, we are thinking either somewhere in the Caribbean or Central America. The other option is South East Asia - we've been to Myanmar, Cambodia, and southern Vietnam but there's still loads we haven't seen. Have travelled a lot around Africa, so not really interested in going there. We are looking for good weather, interesting cultural stuff to do, good food, and some downtime too.

Budget is around €4-5k excluding flights (to get there). Anyone have any good suggestions or recommendations?! Any advice appreciated!

Well the best holiday i ever had was NZ. South Island. Its a wonderful place. You'd manage on that budget ok but it wouldnt be super fancy in terms of the accomodation we stayed in. We spent most of money on activities ( including chartering a small plane to bring us from glenorchy to martins bay via milford sound) We spent about 4.5k in three weeks. Worth every penny.

Thanks a mill Fits - hadn't considered NZ at all but will definitely have a look. We don't need to stay in super fancy accomodation either, more interested in having money to spend on activities and yummy dinners!

Ahh. We had fresh crayfish one evening with fried potatoes and salad with a sauvignon blanc we got from vineyard that day and fresh raspberries and licorice icecream for dessert. All prepared in a self catering kitchen and eaten outside in a garden. We ate in fancy places too but that was one of the best meals i ever had in my life. Sigh...

I hear Laos is quite nice. Not sure what it is like for honeymoons though.

Bali and indonesia would be lovely. laos is beautiful indeed but not sure if I'd recommend it for a honeymoon. Sri Lanka is becoming more popular recently and looks amazing! Haven't been but it's definitely on the list!
Have been to central America and would highly recommend it. Belize, Guatemala make a good combination, also Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
